Pune Wine Fest Begins with Anticipation and Cheer
Wine enthusiasts in Pune can look forward to a loaded weekend ahead. Here comes the fourth edition of Pune Wine Tasting Festival with lots of fun, frolic and glamour.
More than 14 wineries in India and abroad will be participating in the event with more than 70 wines. The foreign countries include Australia, France, Italy and Spain. The gala session is being organized by Monsoon Winds, an effort by Pune Gourmet Club members.
The wines served at the festival will be enough to satiate every mood and every palate. The range will cover from Sicilian to Spanish varietals to oak-aged reserves, sparkling roses, and dessert wines.
"For wine enthusiasts looking to learn more, the festival will feature interactive sessions with winemakers, and educative talks on the process of making wines. Wine experts such as Rajesh Rasal, Ajit Balgi, Sujata Patil and Rajeev Parikh will conduct wine appreciation sessions," said Shankar Narayan, festival co-ordinator.
Apart from food and wine there will be other attractions as well like grape stomping session and cookery shows by Cordon Bleu chefs Michael Swamy and Garima Arora.
“A tasting festival creates a level playing field for both well known and fledgling wineries to introduce their products to an audience that may have no idea that some of these wines even exist," said Shankaranarayan said.
"New world wines from India are beginning to make their presence felt across the world, with several winning international awards. The idea of a wine tasting festival is to demystify the world of wine, and remove the elitist tag associated with it in this country," he added.
