Karnataka plans to launch its own wine
The southern Indian state of Karnataka, which is home to a big share of the wineries in the country, plans to launch its own wine brand in a couple of years, reports Franchiseindia.com. A lot of wine-grapes are already grown in the state and the Karnataka Wine Board is seriously working towards launching a signature brand.
A dedicated wine park is being built in Vijaypura which is situated in the outskirts of Bangalore. The 141-acre wine park is being built at an estimated cost of Rs 20 crore. The project is a public-private joint venture.
The consumption of wine grew by almost 30% last year in Karnataka. The drink is fast becoming popular among the urban population of Bangalore and is also catching up in the suburban areas. An international wine festival is currently being held in Bangalore, further testifying the strong presence of wine in the state.
