Rare Wines Auctioned To Collect Funds for WWF
Hollywood celebrities and Cælestis, the first classified growth (Grand Cru Classé) wine brand created since Napoleonic times specially for WWF, have joined forces to collect funds for WWF (World Wildlife Fund) in London, New York and Hong Kong.
This year, Cælestis voluntary team will auction 15 bottles of Cælestis vintage 2010 in the three continents to be equally shared with all the proceeds going to the local WWF.
One of the rarest wines in the world, 15 bottles of the newly created Cælestis symbolic biodynamic (organic) wine brand, not usually available in stores was auctioned at the end of last year for WWF. Out of 176 Bordeaux Classified Growth (Grands Crus Classés) wines, only four of them are certified organic including three biodynamic.
First charity auctions of Cælestis (vintage 2009) raised £825 in London and $1500 in New York for local WWF and in Hong Kong, Cælestis was donated to WWF.
Additionally, first labels of Cælestis in Latin Celestial were autographed by Oscar-winner Jan A.P. Kaczmarek of ‘Finding Neverland’ fame.
“Pure wine brings great inspiration to my music,” said Alain Moueix of Château Fonroque, a well-known producer and oenologist. Inspired by Cælestis Jan A.P. Kaczmarek generously donated to Cælestis his original composition entitled “Cælestis Impromtu.”
Also, an original Cælestis label will be autographed this year by a representative of the American continent by a Hollywood star. Next year an original Cælestis label will be autographed by a representative of the Asian continent, a Chinese celebrity.
Cælestis aims to raise funds annually for WWF on three continents and draw public attention to the environmental impact of wine production and consumption. World wine sales represent 180 billion US dollars, only less than 3% are organic.
David Nussbaum, Chief Executive WWF UK said, "Unsustainable agriculture practice represents one of the greatest threats to the natural world of our generation".
